Disappointed in Baku
|
| Review Date: January 21, 2010 |
| Reviewer: Melissa L. Stone, |
I am an American living abroad who did holiday shopping online this year. When I saw this cute "Euro Cuisine Heart Design Waffle Maker" and that it is available in the US in a 220volt European electricity version, I ordered one for myself immediately.
Sadly to say, the American version (110 volt) arrived in the mail and there is not a blessed thing I can do with it in Baku, Azerbaijan except fry its internal circuits. I did not have time to even mail it back before returning to my post, so I gave it away to a person who may use it for Valentine's day.
BE CAREFUL TO ORDER THE RIGHT VOLTAGE....

If you love waffles you will love these Hearts!
|
| Review Date: April 19, 2005 |
| Reviewer: Mrs. Romano, Boston, MA United States |
Now you too can make gourmet Belgian waffles. I couldn't love this machine more. Mix up your batter (the recipe is in the instruction booklet), heat up this waffle maker, spray a little Pam and pour in the batter. That is it! The waffles come out so cute and delicious I am sure you will love them. I top them with strawberries and whipped cream. It will look like you slaved in the kitchen for hours when you serve this breakfast. The nonstick finish is too easy to clean and it has several settings for light or darker waffles. Determine the setting you like best and the waffle tone sounds when they are done so you can multi task in the kitchen. And, it has cord storage underneath it, it even has a spot for the plug and you can store it upright to save space. I couldn't be happer with this waffle maker. A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+
Also, if you make waffles or pancakes don't walk, run to Williams Sonoma and pick up the "Batter Dispenser" they have. It is about $35 and well worth every penny. Pour your batter in the dispenser and just squeeze the handle to dispense the perfect amount of batter. It works similar to a flour sifter. No mess, no drips and it is stainless steel and diswasher safe, what could be better? |
Great Product!!!!

| This waffler is a great product! It is so user friendly that you just choose the setting number for how light or dark you want them, spray a liquid oil like Pam on the top and bottom waffle plates, pour the batter, and close the lid. When the waffler chimes...those cute little hearts are done. If you want them to be darker just close the lid for another minute or two, choose your toppings, and dig in while they're hot. |

works great!
|
| Review Date: July 3, 2008 |
| Reviewer: a little picky, |
| This waffle maker works very well. There are several settings for cooking at different temperatures. The waffles cook evenly. MAYBE the not so heavy top grid is forgiving of varying amounts of batter, because I got very little overflow, and all the waffles were complete except for the last waffle in a batch when there was too little batter for a whole waffle. I like the simple light weight design of this waffle maker as opposed to some that are clumsy to use. When the waffle maker is plugged in, a red light comes on. You wait until the green light comes on to put the batter in. I think maybe the red light coming on again is supposed to signal when the waffle is cooked. I wait until the waffle has stopped steaming and then check it. It's either done then or pretty quickly after. I'm not sure about the red light for that. Anyway, I found this waffle maker to be easy to use to make very good waffles. P.S. I really like waffles made from a yeast sponge or sour dough starter, because they are nor bitter like those made with baking powder. I just take the sponge or some starter and mix in milk, egg, some more flour, a little sugar, a pinch of salt, and then it's really ready to use right then. |
Excellent Waffle Maker!

| Reviewer: L. Kay, Stowe, VT |
| I am very, very happy with this waffle maker. It heats up quickly, cooks the waffle quickly and evenly. Because of the heart shapes of the design, you can cut one waffle into smaller ones if necessary and you wouldn't necessarily know they were cut. Otherwise, one large waffle is great too. The unit cleans up easily. Just be careful not to pour too much batter onto the hot griddle. I have found that just 1/2 Cup is plenty so it doesn't squish out and run down the side after closing the lid. Then your clean up is easier than ever! Perfect waffles every time and we don't have to wait too long to cook them. Its a quick process. |
AWESOME!

Kalorik Heart Design Waffle Maker
I do not like this waffle maker. I've been making european style waffles in heart waffle irons for over 30 years and this is the worst waffle maker I've ever owned. The waffles are too pale and not crispy enough - no matter how long you let them "bake". You get what you pay for here. If you're used to first rate waffles, don't bother with this appliance. Spend a little extra and buy a different brand. |

Best waffle maker ever! Six stars
|
| Review Date: January 24, 2008 |
| Reviewer: D. Hayes, Belmont, MA USA |
We have a big family and wanted a waffle maker. We wanted a Big Big waffle maker. Mom does not want to make any child wait for their waffles. Unfortunately, the seemingly biggest waffle makers had review that said they cooked un-evenly (because of their square shape) and were hard to clean if they spilled.
We settled for this medium large waffle iron and were very happy. It cooks large waffles so fast, we can cook waffles faster than three children can eat them and actually have left-overs to freeze. Two waffles are enough even for the most ravenous child. The cooking is very even and it is really nice to have both the controls for darkness and for texture. Waffles do cook a little more slowly if the control is set to even texture, but we prefer the crunchy outside texture setting better anyway.
The iron is easy to use, cleans up well, directs spills away from the controls, and heats up quickly. Seems sturdy, but let us use it a year or two to see how it wears with time.
The waffles freeze and recook well, though we suggest using wax paper between them in large stacks. No more Eggos.

Great Waffle Iron
|
| Review Date: March 19, 2008 |
| Reviewer: Waffle-addicts, Loma Linda, CA |
Coming from the country of Norway our family have been raised on waffles. Since arriving in the US we have been through several and having worn out the last one, we went on the internet to check out the ratings for a new one.
We have had our Chef's Choice M840 WafflePro iron for 6 wks now, and love it! At first we had problems with spillage - as this iron takes less batter than our previous one. We have adjusted and find that we get perfectly made waffles every time. We had planned to buy two (as we often have guests over and need to be able to keep up with the demand), but wanted to try one out before we comited to the other. We have scrapped that idea - as this iron's turn-around is so efficient that we have no problem satisfying the demand. The iron is easy to clean and has logical controls and alerts.Chef's Choice M840 WafflePro - Five of Hearts |
great waffle iron
|
| Review Date: January 26, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Specific Gravity, So Cal |
I got this as a gift for my wife who likes heart shaped things and secretly I wanted a nice waffle maker too. I've tried a few different waffle makers, Belgian and the smaller grid traditional ones. Not a big Belgian fan, and the smaller traditional waffle irons I tried seemed better at making waffle crackers.
However the M840... wow! My wife and I made a bunch of waffles our first day. We tried all the settings to see which we liked best. There are two controls... a dial (1 to 5) to dial in your brown-ness level, and a switch that toggles from a more evenly softer waffle to a more crispy waffle. The softer waffles reminded me of the waffles you'd get at Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles (for you SoCal people out there). I preferred the more crispy setting.... crispy on the outside and still tender on the inside. Not crispy and dry like some cheaper waffle irons I've tried.
The iron takes a few minutes to warm up, but once it reaches its optimal temperature it cooks waffles in about 90 seconds or so. One ladle scoop of batter was the perfect amount to avoid any leaks of batter out of the iron.
The hearts break apart easily, would be great for small kids when you want a smaller portion.
We tried freezing some waffles we made and then used a toaster oven the next morning to warm them up and had great results. My wife said the reheated waffles were just as good if not better than the fresh ones.
The only downside to this waffle iron is the size of the waffle... its a little on the small side. Where I might eat two waffles from other waffle irons, I would probably eat three from this one. Not really a problem since the M840 cooks them pretty darn quick.
Cord can be folded and tucked into the bottom of the iron's base when storing.

Great Waffles

| Review Date: January 9, 2008 |
| Reviewer: Atom Smasher, NC |
| This is the first waffle maker I have ever bought. I wanted a "heart" waffle maker because the kids had loved the ones we got on vacation.I did some research and this waffle maker has gotten good reviews from a few sites. As I am not known for cooking to well I wanted a machine that would take some of the guess work out for me. I a made a great big batch of waffles for my family with great ease. I like my waffles crisp on the outside and moist in the middle, with the setting at max (6) they came out pretty good. That evening my wife used one of the included recipes to make waffle brownies, and they turned out great too! Very nice product and I would recommend this to others. |
Finally Perfect Waffles

| Reviewer: K. Miller, North Canton, OH |
| I have been looking for several years for a new waffle maker, since my other one died. And it HAD to be Hearts just like the ones in Norway. Not only are they great shaped waffles but they make great cake like waffles for my daughter and crunchy waffles for my husband. Everyone is happy and they don't stick to the cooking surface and come out with such ease! It was definitely worth the wait! |

Happy waffles
|
| Review Date: April 22, 2009 |
| Reviewer: buyer bill, TN |
| After buying and returning a series of five different waffle makers, I finally got one that I can use. The Chef's Choice M840 makes "traditional" i.e. not Belgium waffles, but they are not traditional in shape. They have 5 heart shaped sections. The circular shape of the grid with the five radii as dividers allows the batter to flow evenly across the grid with no spreading or coaxing needed. The temperature control has a wide range allowing many degrees of color and crispness. The gutter around the edge is the best I have seen ... nice and deep, keeping most overflows off the counter. The heating unit is fast; it does not require a long warm-up period between waffles. The usual 3 to 4 minutes is required to bake a waffle in spite of the "done" signal which sounds sooner. Thick batter will give a fairly thick waffle, thin batter makes them too thin for my taste. The unit is compact and easy to store. I recommend it highly for folks who need a waffle maker that raises rather than lowers thier spirits. |
Perfect for Norwegian Waffles!
|
| Review Date: December 11, 2009 |
| Reviewer: kristin derby, |
| We bought this product because our old norwegian waffle iron was pretty much dead. We also based our purchase on reading other reviews. And it lived up to the praise! The two baking settings are wonderful and really do work. The beep is rather loud, but we found that beneficial since during breakfast we don't like to stand in one place. They really do finish baking in 90 seconds too! All around an amazing product and very heavily endorsed by norwegians and americans alike! |

| It is a great product. I love it. I love the heart waffles as they are thinner & less fattening especially when made w/ the whole wheat recipe in the instruction book. My friend has this waffler & I had been looking for it for a long time. Highly recommended. |

| We decided to try this after being disappointed with one of those flippable waffle irons. We're quite happy with the waffles we get from this iron. It seems to be well built, and the non-stick plates are of good quality - very easy to clean. There's no built-in timer, though. |
Wonderful Waffle Maker
|
| Review Date: December 4, 2009 |
| Reviewer: A. WILFORD, Greenville, NC USA |
| My mother-in-law gave me this waffle maker as a Christmas gift last year ('08). It makes delicious waffles and I've found it to be very easy to clean. I do have to wear an oven mitt when I'm taking the waffles in and out because it gets so hot (that's the only reason I'm giving it a 4 instead of a 5). There is an internal timer of sorts. The maker 'beeps' when your waffle is done and there is a light to tell you when it's hot enough to start baking the first waffle. It cooks evenly; I've never burned a waffle since I've started using it and we make them almost weekly. Hope this helps |
Good iron, but dangerous design.

| I bought this item for my husband for Christmas because he likes to make waffles for our kids. I like the versatility of being able to make traditional belgian waffles and thinner heart-shaped ones (perfect for Valentine's day). My rating is reflective of my complaint with the design of this iron, and from the looks of it, all the other irons Villaware makes. The handle is very short, and because of its position, when you open up the hot iron, the steam rises straight up to your hand and forearm. This is so dangerous! I have been burnt by the steam, and so has my husband. Perhaps if the handle was telescoping, or even off-set on the sides of the iron, this wouldn't be an issue. Looks silly, but I now use an oven mitt when cooking waffles! I am still looking for that perfect belgian waffle recipe, but when I find it, I'm sure this iron will cook them up just perfectly. |
Very Disappointing...and uneven waffles

| I make waffles practically every weekend and was very excited to get this new waffle maker. Especially one with removable plates. Hoping that the clean up would be easier. This product produced very disappointing waffles. The waffles were uneven top and bottom. The bottoms would come up nice and crisp, while the tops a little mushy and undercooked. At first I thought I just got a defective waffle maker, given just how many good reviews I heard regarding the villaware name. So I exchanged it for a new one, same exact model, and got the same unevenly cooked waffles. I had to set the temperature to its highest setting just to get the top fully cooked. But this just gave me a waffle that was overcooked on the bottom and still a bit mushy on the top. Even changed the recipt to what they recommended and got the same disappointing results. Not sure where the waffle pics associated with the product description came from, but it wasn't from this waffle maker. |
